How do we get from the airport to the hotel?
If you wish to set up transportation in advance, you can contact yoel.astacionicacio@amstardmc.com
But, getting a taxi at the airport is super easy. They have a taxi stand somewhere between the baggage pickup and the exit doors. The taxi stand has a piece of paper with the standard fares for each of the hotels, so you won't need to negotiate pricing. If I remember correctly, the fare was $60 each way. Paying with USD is the easiest method, so I recommend bringing $100 for each trip just in case.
Tipping?
Not mandatory, but recommended. Somewhere between $20 and $60 a day felt appropriate the last time we visited the resort.
Do we need to convert our USD to the Dominican Peso?
No. Using USD is the easiest method.
What dates should we book?
We recommend arriving to the resort on Thursday afternoon and leaving Sunday.
We will have a cocktail reception on Thursday from 7pm-9pm, and would love for everyone to join.
The wedding will be on Friday from 5pm-10pm.
We will be staying at the resort from Wednesday to Sunday, so feel free to join us for additional days.
Where should we stay?
Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana. The link and info is on the "travel" page.
There are a few different "dreams" hotels in punta cana so make sure you're booking Dreams Macao
What Airport should we fly into?
Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ)
Do I need a passport?
Yep! Since we’re celebrating in beautiful Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, all guests will need a valid passport. Be sure to check your expiration date, some countries (including the DR) require that your passport is valid for at least six months past your travel dates. Better to double check now than panic later!
Can we bring the kiddos?
Yes, absolutely! Kids are more than welcome, we’d love to see them there! The resort is family-friendly and has plenty of kid-approved activities to keep everyone happy. Just don’t be surprised if they out-dance you at the reception.
What’s the dress code?
We’re going for beach formal, think breezy, polished, and tropical-chic. For the ceremony and reception, we recommend sundresses, linen suits, anything that feels festive and beach-appropriate. We’re embracing the sand between our toes so heels aren’t necessary for the reception. It’ll be warm, so dress comfortably but still wedding-ready, leave the swimsuits for pool time!
Do we need to know spanish?
No. Punta Cana thrives on tourism, so 90% of the people you'll interact with will be able to speak english. But, be patient and don't be shy to say "hola" and "gracias".
Can I stay at a different resort and still attend the wedding?
Yes, you're welcome to stay elsewhere, just keep in mind that the resort requires a $150 day pass per guest to enter and attend the wedding events. If you plan to stay off-property, please let us know in advance so we can coordinate with the resort.
